8A and 8B

Both classes wrote the chapter 3 test today. Any student that did not write today will be expected to write it when they are next in school.

7E

We checked the homework from last night and discussed circumference from section 8.2 and solved problems on the board.

7F

Today we worked on multiplying without calculators to solve circumference problems. Homework: page 279 #s 11, 12, 13, and 15.

8A

We checked sheet 3.5. Worked on chapter test in text to prepare for the chapter 3 test tomorrow.

7F

Today we started circumference of circles, section 8.2. Homework page 278 #s 3,5,6, and 7.

7E

Today we rewrote the test on parallelograms and triangles. Homework: sheet on parts of circles.

8A

Today we reviewed Pythagorean theorem as we had some time off due to snow. Homework: sheet 3.5. **** Test on chapter 3 this Thursday.

8B

Today we checked homework, sheet 3.5. On Thursday we will have a test on chapter 3.

7F

Today we did a practice sheet to review section 8.1. We did a small review on aX+b=c. I gave the students their test to fix mistakes they may have made.

7E

Today we reviewed area of triangles and parallelograms. Tomorrow I will give their test from section 3.4 and 3.5 back to them and allow them to look it over and fix any mistakes they may have discovered. Then I will will correct the test and put the marks in student's achieve. The next period we began circles, from section 8.1. Students should know the radius and diameter and the relation between them.

8B

Today we reviewed Pythagorean theorem as well as a few fraction problems. Students completed section 3.5 work from book, pg's 110-111 #s 3,4,5,8,10,12 and 14. In the second class students started working on sheet 3.5, which is HOMEWORK if it wasn't completed in class.

8B

Today we reviewed adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions (and the students REALLY needed it). The students will complete work from section 3.5 on Tuesday. Then we will be through the chapter and going to prepare for the quiz.

8A

Today we reviewed adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions (and the students REALLY needed it). The students completed work from section 3.5. We are through the chapter and going to prepare for the quiz, next week.

7E and 7F

Today we had the test on sections 3.4 and 3.5. Any student that was absent should be ready to write when they return.

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

8A and 8B

Today we worked on Pythagorean theorem problems from section 3.4 as well as seeing how Pythagorean theorem will be used in grade 9 with circle geometry.

7E and 7F

Today we worked from section 3.5, finding the area of a triangle. Homework: pages 113 - 115, #s 4,8,10,14, and 17. There will be a test on Friday of sections 3.4 and 3.5.

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

8B

Today we covered material from 3.4, finding the side length of a right triangle. Homework: page 104 #s 3,5,6,8 and 10.

7F and 7E

Today we checked the homework from last night, then we developed a formula for the area of a triangle. Tomorrow we will apply this formula to solve problems.

Monday, February 9, 2015

8A

Today we covered material from section 3.2. Homework: sheet 3.2 extra practice.

7F and 7E

Today we did a few fraction problems, covered parallelograms from section 3.4. Homework:page 104-107 #s 1,3,5,7,9,12,15,17, and 18.

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

7E

Today we learned what a parallelogram looks like and the formula for finding the area of a parallelogram. Then we wrote the quiz for section 1.1 and 1.2. Any student not here today will write the quiz upon their return. Also, they can look over section 3.4 in their text (parallelograms).

Monday, February 2, 2015

8B

Today we identified and labelled the sides of a right angled triangle. We watched a couple of videos on Pythagoras and the uses of his theorem. We learned how to use the theorem to identify a right angled triangle. Homework: Sheet 3.2 Extra practice.

7F

Today we discussed memory, developed a formula for a parallelogram, and wrote a quiz on coordinate planes (section 1.1 and 1.2). If students were absent today, they should be prepared to write the quiz when they return as well as looking at section 3.4 of the text starting on page 100 to familiarize themselves with parallelograms. Homework:four fraction problems. A)2 3/5 + 1 1/10 B)4 1/4 + 3 5/12 C)3 5/8 - 1 1/2 D) 4 1/4 - 2 2/5.
