Math 8H

Math sheet, the last four problems on the sheet.

LA 7A

Some students have to rewrite their paragraph from last night, because it was not completed properly. Students should be past the halfway point in their novel, if not, they should be reading nightly.

La 7B

The students should be over half completed of their novels, as we have come to the halfway mark of the month. Time will be needed at the end for the written work. There are still many book report sheets that have to come in to me. Some students have to complete their good paragraphs from last week.

Math 8C

Sheet on mean, median, mode and range. Students should use books or notes if they need help with the terms. Only half the tests came back signed.

LA classes

Grammar sheet; write a paragraph on watching TV.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

LA 7B

Book report sheets need to come in, I am missing about 12 students sheets. They should have been signed by parents and passed in a week ago. The first diary entry for the book report should be written by now. Ask your child if they have completed theirs.

Math 8C

Get test signed! It was on chapters 1-4, students got them back today.

LA 7A

Grammar sheet on topic sentences. The first diary for the book report should also be written by now. Paragraphs, for some students, need to be corrected.

Math 8C

After writing our test on chapters 1-4, I must say I am disappointed in the lack of studying as a whole. The second term average for the class was 83 %; the class average on this test was 73 %. It makes me worried when I hear students say that you can't study for math. If the students continue with these thoughts, the high school exams will eat them up.

LA classes

Some students are still struggling with writing paragraphs. Please revisit the website I have provided and read all the information. http://www.tustin.k12.ca.us/cyberseminar/paragraph.htm#apple

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Math 8C

Test tomorrow on chapters 1-4. Good luck.

Math 8H

Some students have to complete #'s 5,6,7 and 8 on page 120.

La 7A

Some students have yet to pass in their corrected paragraph from Tuesday. It should be completed by tomorrow.
Students have to write a good paragraph on "homework", complete with a topic sentence, five detail sentences and a conclusion.
Today six students show up without homework completed. I see this as an ongoing problem that needs to be corrected.

We are working on GST and PST and we are having difficulty. If you could help your child understand this, it would be appreciated.

Try this interesting mind twister:http://www.quizyourprofile.com/guessyournumber.swf

LA Classes

Grammar sheet on topic sentences and writing supporting details, two sided.

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Math 8C

Review of chapter 2. This would entail knowing the rules of integers as well as the steps necessary to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions.

LA classes

There has not been many book report sheets returned signed, they should have been in school today. Students will need to bring novels to class, along with their other materials, everyday.
Our paragraph assignment did not go as well as I anticipated. It seems students have trouble reading information from a website. I will allow until this Friday for the assignment to be completed properly. The website is on my last blog.
